LTI Motion pushes further into wind energy market

With their new wind energy competence centre in Unna (North Rhine-Westphalia) as well as manufacturing plants in Lahnau (Hesse) and Shanghai, LTI Motion is turning their wind energy business into a strategic pillar of growth. At the same time, the company is acquiring the intellectual property rights for the Pitchmaster series from former exclusive partner Moog, securing additional market shares and returning to marketing under their own trademark. Just in time for the industry's biggest trade fair, WindEnergy Hamburg, LTI Motion presents PitchOne as the new 5th-generation product series.

20 years of experience in the wind power sector and more than 100,000 installed power inverters have earned the company its solid reputation in the wind industry. Following an exclusive agreement with Moog over the past few years, LTI Motion is now taking a new approach with the goal of establishing wind energy as a strategic pillar of growth and expanding their involvement in the market.

Until now, wind energy and the production of pitch drive solutions at the plant in Unna fell within the remit of LTI ReEnergy. Going forward, wind energy will be reincorporated into LTI Motion's core business, and manufacturing will move to the plants in Lahnau and Shanghai. Pitch adjustment has always been considered a classic servo drive job. This makes it a perfect fit for the LTI Motion portfolio.

In addition, the new wind energy competence centre in Unna will be spearheading the expansion of technology development and marketing activities.

"By setting up an additional supply chain and more manufacturing capacities in China, we are responding to the current customer needs: A worldwide service presence, faster delivery times and greater closeness to our customers - these are just some of the benefits provided by the new structure that our customers will enjoy," says Dr. Josef Wiesing, Managing Director of LTI Motion GmbH.

Aside from these organizational changes, LTI Motion will also present their new 5th-generation pitch drive system in Hall B5, Stand 233 at the WindEnergy Hamburg expo (25 - 28 September 2018). PitchOne has all the usual benefits such as high availability, robustness and lower system costs, and in addition stands out for its built-in safety solutions and condition monitoring.

To round out their portfolio, LTI Motion will resume the marketing of the PitchMaster series after Moog announced their withdrawal from the pitch systems business. In the course of this changeover and after some strategic negotiations, LTI Motion was able to buy back their old intellectual property rights for the Pitchmaster series and open up additional marketing options.
